Ayurvedic approach towards treating a disease
(Ayurved - A natural way to balance the laws of nature)
Disease is an incredible way by which body expresses its annoyance towards various things that are illicit.
A disease is such a condition which shows an imbalance in the equilibrium of inner ecosystem i.e. human body. Human body is such a terrific creation of Divine Power that works relentlessly throughout the life. In a diseased state, the imbalance that gets created could be because of external causative factors or some inner reasons that are generated mainly by overlooking the laws of nature.
The body constituents are constantly subjected to perform various functions of the body. Food, seasons, age, mental conditions, behavioral pattern, occupational habits etc. and many more have influence over the equilibrium of our body. As per the season and time, a lifestyle needs to be modified. This includes eating habits as well as behavioral pattern. And failure of which is considered as a disease.
The modern system of medicine has description of various bacteria, viruses and parasites as the causative factors for various ailments. It has also developed an extensive range of medicines to counteract with these harmful organisms. These medicines including antibiotics attack on bacteria, microbes, viruses, parasites etc. and free the body from these disease-causing factors. This is a remarkable discovery and has helped the mankind extensively.
You will not find any description about such organisms, viruses etc. in Ayurvedic texts, just as in Allopathic system of medicine. The reason is not the unavailability of modern techniques but the philosophy in treating a disease.
Ayurved strongly believes that a disease is the imbalance that has been created in the body. Moreover Ayurvedic treatment entirely focuses on correcting the imbalance and re-establishing the equilibrium.
A condition when the equilibrium is disturbed i.e. there are some pathological changes in the levels of Vata, Pitta and Kapha (3 dosha- the basic components of the body), there is a possibility that some microorganisms may attack and habituate in the body. The disease is formed and shows its symptoms. But Ayurved believes that pathogenesis has started from the imbalance whereas modern pathology accentuates on these organisms. That is why the modern pathology is constantly being replenished with new medicines and with new organisms also.
Most of the times the removal or destruction of such organisms from the body with the help of antibiotics and other such medicines, may not be a complete treatment.
In such conditions, the environment favorable for such organisms (internal environment of imbalance) remains the same, which in turn may leave a room for the recurrence of the disease. This is commonly observed in various conditions where 2 or 3 courses of antibiotics are given.
Ayurved treats all pathological conditions by altering levels of dosha with the help of Agni (the digestive fire) and thus it clears the environment favorable for the organisms and parasites. Lowered Agni leads to Aam formation, which is responsible for most of the ailments. This unnatural metabolite is properly metabolized and simultaneously dosha levels are maintained. Thus in the line of treatment nowhere any organisms are considered and still the best results are achieved.
Since in the Pathology as well as Medicine, anywhere only the body constituents viz. dosha, dhatu and mala with their predominance of elements are mainly considered and the equilibrium is achieved, Ayurved has medicines for all the pathological conditions.
